I love thee, winter tree
For new beginnings start with thee
Looking out my window I know
Pure white will fall with end of snow
New life shall bloom and cover thee
Shapes and movements inside of thee
Rustling briskly throughout thy arms
With shaken light and singing charms
And when the sun shall set each day
And darker shapes come out each way
The shadow world will share thy night
Until again the morning light
Then rich colors arrive at last
To signal warmer time has passed
Much gentler light can shine through thee
Though shorter time each day will see
Then darkness finds its destined place
The coldness stirs and falls with grace
The white anew and shining bright
Embracing you through day and night
I love thee, winter tree
For I can always trust in thee
That in my window I shall know
That coldness ends after the snow.
